At Killer Robot Design, our goal is
to offer an alternative to ordinary, pre-fab and environmentally negligent furniture companies, and to
espouse a different approach to home furnishings. We also want to resurrect and keep
healthy many of the traditional ideas, designs, and styles of furniture and accessories that have literally stood the test of time. 
We obtain our materials from many different sources. We work with lumber yards that specialize in reclaimed lumber and home reclamations. Using reclaimed wood saves trees and allows living forests to remain intact. We also scour the earth looking for "cast aways" that can be used to create a home furnishing that contrasts its original and intended use. We Finish our furniture with low VOC, water based materials and water based, non-toxic
stains. No use of MDF or particle board. Only
water soluble, formaldehyde free glues are used.
The company was started by Matthew Heffner, a designer and sculptor who had been building furniture with his wood-working Grandfather since he was old enough to hold a hammer. Matt has a degree in Industrial Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and worked as a Special Effects Make-Up Artist for many years before taking his artwork and love of design in a whole new direction. Matt was born in Pennsylvania, raised in New Jersey and moved to California in 1997.Follow Us:
